At ALJ Digital, we’re on a mission to empower BIPOC-led businesses and highlight Black excellence. So, of course, we go to the places where our people will be. That's why I recently attended the launch of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Team within the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce (NACC). This groundbreaking initiative, led by Azizi Marshall and Mario Lambert, is dedicated to empowering BIPOC-owned businesses and entrepreneurs within the Naperville area community. It was great to see NACC board members, DEI (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) committee members, and NACC members, all united in their commitment to fostering collaboration, bridge-building, and connection-building within the organization.
The BIPOC Team’s main focus is to generate valuable leads for its members while providing a platform for networking, referrals, collaboration, and growth. We did some of that during the meeting, we introduced ourselves and our businesses but we also touched on powerful conversations around the challenges we face due to current events. I look forward to having access to an environment that uplifts and champions BIPOC voices in the business community.
Another key objective of the team is to facilitate bridge-building between BIPOC-owned businesses and the wider business community. Through various initiatives, the team will work to connect its members with potential partners, suppliers, and clients, thereby creating a strong network of support and collaboration.
In addition, the BIPOC Team will provide opportunities for members to learn from one another and share their experiences, challenges, and successes. By fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual support, I believe this team will be better equipped to overcome obstacles and achieve its goals.
ALJ Digital celebrates the inaugural gathering of NACC's BIPOC Team as a step in the right direction for local business. I am filled with optimism for a more inclusive and equitable business environment, where business leaders and entrepreneurs in this space are empowered to thrive and succeed.
